Outreach

Harajuku. How can one explain Harajuku? It is much more than a station, it is a cultural hang out for many people especially the goth kids. It is also where we carried out our Kanto evangelism. We met up with Corrine at Harajuku then walked to a nearby doutor coffee shop and had a time of prayer before the days events began.
In the second picture you can see us from right to left Corrine, Mommy (Rhonda), Mary and yours truely gathered together in a small corner of the coffee shop praying. After which we will be ready for anything, BRING IT ON!!!

Playing Othello

After the meal was cooked and and eaten the Othello board was brought out. What started as a friendly game turned into the ancient Japan verses Korea face off. On the Japan side we had Takuya and representing Korea was Joon. This time around Japan emerged the victor =D Best wishes on the next round Joon (smarty)!

Cooking Lessons

We first met Ken at TBC. Ken is studying to be a chef and plans to go to Italy to study for a year. In order to prepare he wanted to work on his English so we invited him to come over and cook a meal together in English. When he arrived he gave me a nice gift of a candle holder in the shape a an elephant. In the second picture you can see Ken cooking with Takuya and me watching. Takuya is also a Christian and was an English student of Jesse from our small group. Ken and Valentine are very good friends.

SNOW

It usually snows only once a year in Tokyo. Today was the day and the girls took Teddy out to play. Teddy seemed to have more fun than they did. Unfortunately the snow will all be gone tomorrow as it turned to rain in the afternoon.

I will just have to take lots of snow pictures in Hokkaido next week, but till then this will have to do.

Outreach

This is the office, nerve centre, hub of Second Harvest Japan. It is set up to receive food, which stores would otherwise have to throw away, and distribute it to the needy people in Japan. These include homeless single mothers, orphans and others in need.

Seen in the picture are Charlie CEO. Joon and Valentine whom you met at TBC. So if you are in need of food when you are in Tokyo this is the place to contact.

Outreach

After finishing at Second Harvest Joon & I
went to Ueno Park to help with another food preparation for homeless people living in the park
Here you can see Joon preparing leeks - we also prepared carrots and mushrooms - and in the background you can see some of the men and women who would be enjoying the food later on.

This is a church outreach and they do five different locations every week. Joon will help them every Friday until he goes back to Korea

Second Harvest

I took Joon to Tokyo and we volunteered for food prep with Second Harvest. This is most of the team we worked together for about two hours peeling radishes and slicing cabbage for a meal that would be served to homeless people on Saturday. This team volunteers every Friday. Joon & I had a lot of fun working with them and everyone got a hot coffee - canned of course.

TBC

We took Joon to church with us on Sunday and he soon made some new friends. In the middle is Shiho - nicknamed Valentine and next to him is Ken. Yes Ken is actually a Japanese name.

I am not too sure but just in case this might actually be my first appearance in the blog. I am the good looking guy in the picture.

Sarah & Mary look very different in height in this picture but they are almost the same though Mary is a little taller now.

KantoTraining Seminar

We began this year with a training seminar for all our workers in Kanto (Greater Tokyo Area) We had Michael Essenburg from CAJ come and give us a coaching seminar. The time together also included YWAM's new pray for the mission on the first Thursday of the month.

David also helped us with a cool team building game and we wrapped up watching a video that also had many good team building concepts in the story, especially when working with people from different cultures.

Flashback

I t was Rhonda's birthday a few years ago s I took her out for coffee at my favourite coffee shop in Tokyo - Tulley's. I had been there many, many times and the staff all knew me, so I told them it was Rhonda's birthday and ordered coffee for both of us. I go t my coffee quickly but Rhonda's seemed to take a bit longer and I found out why when they bought it to the table and sang happy birthday to her,

Helping hands

This wonderful smiling face is Joon Kim my Korean house brother for one month. A wonderful man of God, he had a month free and wanted to give it to missions and so came to join us. He is studying to be a professor of God in the field of microbiology. His mission: to fight for God in the Universities. Please keep him in your prayers as he faces studies, tuition and young life choices.

Happy New Year

Well there is nothing like a meal with a special friend to get one to dress up nice. Here is David with his friend Tamara. Tamara is also a student at TWU I am guessing that we will be hearing a lot more about Tamara as time goes by. Tamara studies linguistics and math and she sang in the university choir last year.

I hope to get to meet Tamara and her family when I go to Vancouver in April for an Urban Missions Conference.
